Rebecca E. "Betty" Hurd, 84, of 5 Maple St., passed away Monday (March 19, 2012) at her home.
Born in Canisteo, August 28, 1927, the daughter of Rev. Joseph and Sarah Cather McClintock, she graduated High School in Whitesboro and had resided in several places in New York State returning to the Canisteo area about 12 year ago. She had been employed at the former Marion Rohr's, as well as the former Harvey & Carey Drug Store both in Hornell.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, Robert T. Hurd and Edson J. Halbert as well as 2 sisters, Ruth Bluett and Lois Kame, and her brother, John McClintock.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Delice Hurd Nowicki (Gregory) of Kent, and Melody Halbert Melious (Howard) of Ellenboro, North Carolina, one son, Michael (Lauri) Hurd of Arizona, one sister, Carolyn McClintock Brizzee (Jack) of Canisteo. Several nieces and nephews including Becky and Gary Miles of Hornell, 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.

The family will be present to receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo where funeral services will follow calling hours at 8:00 PM, Rev. Gary Miles officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
