Raymond E. Kring

Raymond E. Kring, 86, of 1190 Webbs Crossing Rd, passed away peacefully Sunday (December 13, 2009) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Hornell, December 26, 1922, the son of Edgar and Eva Simms Kring, he had been a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Hornell High School Class of 1942, and went on to serve our country during World War II in the US Army being awarded the American Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, and the European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal. He had worked construction for many years, retired from Alfred State College, and after retirement had done maintenance for the former General Marble. Ray attended the Canisteo Wesleyan Church, was a life member of the Corning VFW, a life member of the Arkport American Legion, and a former member of the Hornell Moose Club.
He is survived by Velma Nephew Kring whom he married February 2, 1946, a daughter Susan (Charles) Feenaughty of Canisteo, 2 sons Raymond E (Rita) Kring of Cocoa, FLA, Garry (SueAnn) Kring of Arkport, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 2-3pm Wednesday, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, with the Rev. Donald Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
