Obituary

Raymond E. Hoffman Sr.

Raymond E. Hoffman Sr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2026. at the age of 90.

Raymond was born July 29, 1936, in Cuba, New York. He resided in the Angelica area for many years and was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Mary E. Hoffman, on March 2, 1957.

Raymond was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work. He loved driving semi-trucks and spent many years working for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), operating heavy equipment. After a long and dedicated career, he retired and enjoyed spending his time doing the things he loved most.

Raymond especially enjoyed watching Western movies and could often be found puttering around in his garage or sitting on the porch with Mary, watching the birds and keeping an eye out for bald eagles. He cherished spending time with his family and friends and also had a special love for Texas Hot.

Raymond was also known for his wonderful sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh, and everyone who knew him loved his wit and good-natured personality. His jokes, laughter, and ability to bring a smile to those around him created countless memories that his family and friends will treasure forever.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Hoffman and Ava Grimes; his brothers, Pete Hoffman and Bob Hoffman; his sister, Joan White; and his beloved wife, Mary E. Hoffman.

He is survived by his children, Raymond (Vicki) Hoffman of Angelica, Wendy (Jerry) Cassidy of Birdsall, and Tammy Hoffman Miller (Scott) of Belmont; his sisters, Barbara Grant and Diane Kofchak; 11 grandchildren, Raymond Hoffman III, Curtis Hoffman, Katelyn (Jason) Morton, Megan Coen, Miranda (Brett) Hemphill, Chasity (Dan) Mora, Casey (Breanne) Gates, Mary Ann Powers (Craig), Ashley Coen, Ryan Coen (Chelsea), and Desiree Miller; 36 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Raymond will be remembered for his hard work, his love of family, his enjoyment of the outdoors, and, most of all, the laughter and happiness he brought to those around him. His family and friends will forever cherish the time spent with him, the stories shared, and the memories made.

A memorial service celebrating Raymond's life will be held on September 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Garwoods United Methodist Church, 10524 County Road 15B, Canaseraga, NY 14822.
