Raymond J. Duke Jr., 81, of 49 Cliffside Drive, passed away peacefully Saturday (September 10, 2016) at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Syracuse, August 21, 1935, the son of Raymond J. and Eleanor Cullivan Duke Sr., he had resided in Syracuse during his early life, moving to Greenwood in 1958. He later moved to Canisteo in 1985.
Raymond was a graduate of DeRyder High School, and received his bachelor's degree from LeMoyne College. He did graduate studies at Syracuse University, SUNY Cortland and Alfred University. He was employed as a math teacher at the Greenwood Central School until his retirement in 1997. During that time he was a member of the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Department, served on the ambulance crew as an EMT, and had served as Fire Chief for the department.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother-in-law; David Rice, and sister-in-law, Beverly Rice, and nieces; Charlene Koch and Kathy Johnson
He is survived by wife; Sally Johnson Duke to whom he was married on September 3, 1982, his daughter; Michelle (Jason) Feltham of York and his son Michael (Danielle) Duke of York, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Susan (Edward) Shiloh of Hornell and Dale (Hope) Johnson of Dansville, four grandsons; Jacob, Jesse and Jackson Feltham, and Owen Duke, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo on Tuesday from 5 until 7 PM where Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM. Deacon Robert McCormick will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Canisteo.
