Raymond L. Baker, 73, of State Route 248, passed away peacefully Friday (July 31, 2015) at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Hornell, NY, September 13, 1941, the son of Winifred and Lois Davis Baker, he had resided in Rexville and West Union before becoming a resident of Canisteo about 44 years ago.
Ray was a graduate of Greenwood Central School, class of 1959 and had served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1959 until 1964. He had been employed as a welder at the former Forster-Wheeler Corporation in Dansville and served as a part time police officer in the Village of Canisteo for several years. Ray also served as Canisteo Village Justice for four years. He was a member of the Canisteo American Legion Post.
He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother, Robert Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Decker Baker to whom he was married on September 19, 1964, his daughters, Deborah (Daniel Kerr) Stanford of Canisteo, Susan Baker of Canisteo and Kimberly Baker of Greenwood, his son Robert (Chris) Baker of Canisteo, his sister. Elaine Hoyt of Arkport and his grandchildren, Kyle (Colleen) Amidon, Craig Amidon, Eric Stanford, Renee Stanford, Austin Baker, Brennan Baker, Ashlyn Rauber, Kohl Rauber, Karlie Baker, Kaiden Baker, and his great granddaughter, Ayla Amidon.

The family will observe a private period of visitation; however friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday at 1 PM at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo. Rev Donald Maynard will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Canisteo.
