Phyllis Mullen, age 72, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025.
Born and raised in the Greenwood area, Phyllis made her home in Geneva, where she built several friendships over the years.
Phyllis was a graduate of Greenwood Central School, Class of 1970. Phyllis also attended Cosmetology school as well as classes to become a Master Gardener.
Known for her green thumb and remarkable knowledge of plants, Phyllis was a lifelong gardener. Phyllis took great pride in her flower beds and was a founding member of the Hoe 'N Hope Garden Club. She was always able to spot the hidden value in things others might overlook—believing everything had a purpose and story worth telling. She had an eye for beauty and purpose in unexpected places, often uncovering treasures while thrifting.
Phyllis had a joyful spirit, often finding “mud puddles” to play in—her way of embracing the small, fun moments in life. She loved exploring new places, chatting with strangers who quickly became friends, and discovering the charm in everyday adventures.
Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Todd Wormley, and Kip (Shiloh) Wormley, two step sons David and Dan Pickard, her three grandchildren Trent, Desirae (Paul), and Declan, one great granddaughter Abriella, three sisters Flo, Doris, and Jayne (Jim), a brother Jim, a niece Kristen (Josh), and a nephew Kurt (Skyler), her great niece Loretta and two great nephews Kylar and Lanson. She also leaves behind her beloved cat, Caroline.
Phyllis has joined her beloved parents Anna and Gerald Mullen in heaven. Phyllis is also predeceased by her niece Emily.
A special thank you to her dear friends, Linn, Ines, and Greg for their kindness, companionship, and countless card games.
Family and Friends are invited to gather and share memories on Friday, June 27th from 2:00-4:00 at McGuigan and Bero Funeral Home, 45 High Street, Geneva, NY 14456. The funeral service led by Pastor Nelson Miller will immediately follow. In honor of Phyllis’s love of the color purple, the family kindly asks guests to wear something purple.
