Phyllis Elaine Jenkins, 78, passed away Sunday (September 6, 2009) St. James Hospital.
Born in Hornell, October 30, 1930, the daughter of Charles and Marian Jackson Thomas, she was a lifelong area resident. Phyllis graduated from Alfred-Almond School Class of 1948, and later married Rubel H Jenkins who predeceased her February 21, 2008. She had worked for the former Hickey-Freeman, and had taught nursery school at Spencer Methodist Church where she was known as Ms. Phyllis. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, Nascar, Country music, and watching bull riding.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband Rubel in 2008.
She is survived by her daughter Thelma (Ron) Morse of Campbell, 4 sons Dudley (Teresa) Jenkins of Hornell, Richard (Ann Baldwin) Jenkins of Canisteo, Rubel D. (Kimberly) Jenkins of Hornell, John C. (his daughter Katie) Jenkins of Corning, her sisters Linda Wise of Arkport, Pat (Gary) Mullen of Canisteo, Shirley Clarke of Haskinville, Marilyn (Rodney) Kromer of S. Dansville, Edith (Robert) Congdon of Campbell, Jean Weber of Arkport; his brother, Charles (Marcia) Thomas of Fremont, 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family will be present 11:30-1:30pm Thursday, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
