Peggy Ann Lyke, 85, formerly of Cameron Ave., passed away Saturday (January 22, 2011) at the Hornell Gardens.
Born in Hornell, November 11, 1925, the daughter of William and Maesie (Chapman) Wilson, she had resided in Hornell all of her life. Peggy was a graduate of the Hornell High School and as a young adult she was an avid tap dancer who performed locally and also in Rochester and Buffalo, after having studied under the Johnny Oxx Dancing School. After finishing High School she worked in Rochester as a secretary for the War Department for a year and then returned to Hornell and worked for the Schults Law Office and the Hornell School System for 35 years, the majority of those years as the secretary at Bryant School. Peggy was an active member of the Ivanhoe Chapter #160 Order of the Eastern Star as well at the Arkport United Methodist Church.
She was predeceased by her husband George in 2004, two sisters; LaMar Hammond and Joy Haynes, one brother; Edmound Wilson.
She is survived by one daughter Becky (Tom) Caulfield of Johnstown PA, one son; Gary (Kathie) Lyke of Hornell, four grandchildren, Scott, Shawn (Lara) Caulfield, Nicole and Hilary Lyke, several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday (January 25, 2010) at 11AM at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St. Hornell, Rev. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
