Paul Mess, 79, of
19 Bennett Street,formerly of Madison Avenue, Hornell, passed away Monday (April 18, 2005) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Gouverneur , March 25, 1926, the son of CharlesW. and Alice Shute Mess, he had resided in Canaseraga the past 2 years.
He was predeceased by hisadoptive parents, Charles and Alice Mess of Hornell and his youngest sonMike. Paul served his country for 27 years, 3 of which were in the SouthPacific during WW-2 under Admiral Bull Halsey, and 24 years with the Air Forcethroughout the world (Japan, Texas, Massachusetts, Nebraska, Maryland and the Philippine Island.) He also served as American Legion Commanderfor Post # 239 in Cascade , Marylandin 1969. Paul enjoyed fishing andworking outdoors during his 33 years of retirement.
He was a dedicated husband for 55 years to his wife, JoyceBiddle Mess, formerly of Hornell.
He is survived by one daughter: Elaine Mess of Arkport, one son: Paul (Karan) Mess of Canaseraga , 3Grandchildren, Beth (Dave) Giles of Arkport, Jayson (Michelle) Mess of Hornelland Tony (Mariann) Mess of Canaseraga, 7 great grandchildren, several nieces,nephews.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends areinvited to attend a Memorial Service on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Larger Parish Churchin Canaseraga.Rev. Jess Flint will officiate.Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery.
