Opal M. McMindes, 85, of 11 Fifth Street, passed away Thursday (April 12, 2018) at Rochester General Hospital where she had been a patient for the past two months.
Born in Canisteo, September 28, 1932, the daughter of Welford and Hazel Rowey Dickerson, she had resided in Canisteo, nearly all her life. She had attended Canisteo Central School and was employed at the former Westinghouse Plant as well as Phillips Lighting in Bath for several years prior to her retirement in 1992.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Elwin Leo McMindes and two of her children; Veronica McMindes and Alan McMindes.
She is survived by her son; Lee (Dorothea) McMindes of North Carolina , her brother; LaVerne Dickerson of Addison, 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren.
