Nora P. Lewis, 92, of 431 Fairview Ave, passed away Saturday (January 8, 2011) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Ontario, Canada, January 14, 1918, the daughter of James and Esther Johnson, she had resided in the Angelica area early in her life and in Hornell since the early 1940's. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Hornell. Nora will be remembered for her love of sewing, gardening, flowers and especially her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Edward P. Lewis in 1981, her sisters, Esther Austin, Theresa Thorton and Gladys Button, her brothers, William and Elmer Johnson, 3 grandchildren, Edward Lewis, Stephen Lewis Jr., and Andrew Lewis, her daughter-in-law, Koz Lewis, her step-grandson, Wayne Miracle, and her step- daughter, Mary Miracle.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Jean (Alton) Derick of Wheeler, Anita (Karl) Derick of Wheeler and Janice (James) Raish of Hornell, 7 sons, James Lewis of Wisconsin, Kenneth (Marilyn) Lewis of Grand Island, Robert (Janet) Lewis of Nunda, Stephen (Mary) Lewis of Hornell, Donald (Wanda) Lewis of Hornell, LeRoy (Marybeth) Lewis of Hornell, Leslie (Luanne) Lewis of Hornell, her sisters and brother, Ann Johnson, James Johnson, Charles Johnson and George Johnson all of Allegany County, 40 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and Wednesday from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Funeral services will follow calling hours on Wednesday at 1 PM. Rev. Philip Kuhn will officiate. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery.
