Nanette J. "Nan" Allen, 77, of Eighth Street, passed away peacefully Sunday (October 22, 2017) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born in the Town Of Howard, February 29, 1940, the daughter of Howard and Viola Bennett Stewart, she had resided in Canisteo all her life and was a graduate of Canisteo Central School, Class of 1959. Nan had been employed at the former JC Penneys, K-Mart, former Loohn's Cleaners and the Childrens's Home all in Hornell. For the past several years, Nan was a well known seamstress, and worked out of her home.
She was predeceased by her parents, two brothers; Norman and David Stewart as well as sister Ruth and brother Eugene who passed away in infancy.
She is survived by her husband; Robert Allen Jr. of Canisteo, her daughter; Kim (Kevin) Seekins of Lockport, five sisters; Joyce (Hervey) Leach of Virginia Beach, Catherine (Gerald) McDougal of Waterloo, Deanna (Robert) Terry of Canisteo, Ellen Stewart of Jamestown and Debra (Lynnwood) Austin of Wellsburg, NY, seven brothers; William (Elaine) Stewart of Pine City, James Stewart of Hornell, Richard Stewart of Elmira, Robert (Jane) Stewart of Canisteo, Dana Stewart of Canisteo, Michael Stewart of Canisteo and Roger Stewart of Canisteo, two grandchildren; Steven and Bryan Seekins, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honoring Nan's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday (Oct. 28, 2017) at 11AM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo. Rev. W. James Hardy will officiate.
