Muriel Rossman passed away Wednesday (December 5, 2012) at the Comfort House of Allegany County. She was born March 17, 1924 in Ithaca, New York to Myron and Ethel Morton.
She was predeceased by her husband Claire Rossman, of 43 years in 1986, two sisters Jean Yager of Fillmore and Marcia Short of Belfast.
She is survived by four daughters, Bette Morris of Indiana, Linda (Clarence) Reese of Olean, Julie (Joseph) Prunoske and Cathy Harvey of Almond. Muriel was grandmother to nine grandchildren Ralph (Patty) Morris of Indiana, Amy (John) Dusard of Indiana, Jamie Reese of North Carolina, Eric (Maria) Reese of CA, Jennifer Pruoske of PA, Brian (Lauren) Prunoske of Livonia, Jolynn Prunoske of PA, Katie Harvey of Wellsville, Jesse Harvey of CA, 7 great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. Also surviving are her three sisters Harriett Day of West Almond, Georgia Grastorf of Angelica, and Patricia Calkins of Hornell.
Mary had many interests especially golf and bowling, whom she enjoyed with her sisters and friends. Aside from being a stay-at-home Mom, she enjoyed all kinds of crafts, sewing, chair caning, stenciling, china painting, and macrame´ and more.
She had a love of flowers, but the weeds usually got the best of her. She loved mowing her lawn and keeping her home looking nice.
She was a former member of the Kanakadea Chapter OES of Alfred, the Almond Grange and the Home Bureau.
Mary enjoyed the wonderful vacations spent with her daughters and all the grandchildren every summer, and truly enjoyed life.
The family will be present from 5-7pm Friday (December 7, 2012) at the Robertson Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street Hornell, where a service will be held on Saturday at 2:00pm. Burial will be at the Alfred Rural Cemetery.
