Mildred B Zimmerman, 93, formerly of Alfred, passed away Wednesday (July 9, 2008) at McAuley Manor.
Born in Howard, October 29, 1914, the daughter of Alonzo and Edith Johnson Smith Jr, she had resided in Alfred most of her life. Mildred was a graduate of Hornell High School Class of 1932, went on to get her Bachelors from Alfred Univeristy, and received her Teachers certificate from Geneseo State Normal School Class of 1937. She had taught Latin and History at Alexander Central School in Genesee County for 5 years and later 5th grade at Alfred-Almond Central School for 30 years, retiring in 1986. Following retirement she was a sales agent with Century 21 in Wellsville and Southern Hills Realty Inc., and traveled extensively.
She was predeceased by her 2 husbands Gilbert Butler and Samuel Zimmerman, and brother Clifford Smith.
She is survived by her daughters Sara May Butler of Watermill, Nancy (George) Gamer of Pittsford, and son James (Linda) Butler of Albequerque, NM, grandson Thomas Gamer of Pittsford, nieces Elaine O'Dell, Joan Mason, and Loretta Smith .

The family will be present 10am-12noon Monday, July 14, 2008, at the Robertson Funeral Home,
354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon with the Rev. Michael Childs officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery.
