Mildred E. "Betty" Prouty, 81, of N. Hornell St., passed away Tuesday (May 15, 2018) at her daughter's home in Addison.
Born in N. Hornell, NY, June 30, 1936, the daughter of Nathaniel and Mildred (Baker) Prouty, she had resided in Canisteo all her life. Betty loved to garden, cook, and play with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader in her spare time. Most of all Betty loved her children and lived to make her family happy.
She was predeceased by her husband; Carl McMindes, 1 son; Samual McMindes, 4 brothers; Vernon, Robert, Dick and Jim, and 2 sisters; Eloise and Virginia.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Cindy (Joe) Bouton of Addison and Karen (Steve) Walker of Elmira Heights, a son; Matthew McMindes of Canisteo, 6 grandchildren; Michael (Khristi) DuBois, Thomas Bouton, Samantha Bouton, Dylan Brotzman, Devon Walker, and Nicholas Walker, 6 great-grandchildren; Brice, Alex, Aubrianna, Onallee, Layklyn and Layne as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will be present Thursday (May 17, 2018) from 6-8PM, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo. A graveside service will be held on Monday (May 21, 2018) at 11 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Canisteo, a celebration of Betty's life will follow at the Canisteo American Legion.
