Mildred A." Midge " Hunt, 83, formerly of

20 Bennett St., passed away Monday (December 4, 2006) with her family at her side,atMcAuley Manor following a long illnessBorn in Hornell, June 18, 1923, a daughter of Ira and Flossie Webb Ellis, she had resided in theHornell area most of her life

Midge was a Graduate of the Hornell High School Class of 1941 and in1944 graduated nursing school at E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital in Buffalo. She had workedas a RN for Corning Hospital and Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.

She served her country during WW2 as a nurse in the U.S.Army. She was stationed in Hawaiiand Japan during the Occupation .

She was a member of the Hornell United Presbyterian Church, FormerMember of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Hornell , Arthur H CunninghamPost # 440 American Legion in Hornell, Hornell High Alumni Association and the E. J. Meyer Memorial Nursing Alumni

She was inducted inthe Hornell Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.

Midge was a life long sports enthusiast . She was involved in many sports in highschool , especially tennis and basketball. She helped organized the CinderellaSoftball League and coached Cinderella and Princess teams.



Midge will always be remembered for her playing tennis andwalking.

Midge was predeceasedby her husband, Walther P. Hunt Dec.3, 1992 and two sisters: Marilyn Sheedy and Bessie Kelleher.



She is survived by six daughters: Carol Barbatoof FL., Jo Ann ( John ) Hughes ofCanisteo, Beth Ann ( Robert ) Murdock ofIL., Linda Hunt of VA., Susan ( Joseph) Cieslak of Hornell, Candy ( Tom ) Minigielloof Fairport,



two sons: James (Candy) Hunt of MISS, Thomas ( Deborah)Hunt of Arkport , one brother: Raymond Ellis of Wellsville, and several niecesnephews and cousins. She enjoyedspending time with her 14 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren



The family will be present to receive friends from 7-9pm Wednesday,(December 6, 2006)and Thursday 2-4PM & 7-9PM at the Bender-Brown &Powers Funeral Home,

354 CanisteoSt., Hornell, where funeral services will be held on Friday, (December8, 2006) at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. David Kilgore officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery.
