Michael D. Russell, 52, of North Hornell Street, passed away Wednesday (May 16, 2018) as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident in the Town of Cameron.
Born in Hornell, July 9, 1965, the son of Roy and Nance Russell Herbert, he had resided in Canisteo all his life. He was a graduate of Canisteo Central School and had attended Unity College in Maine. He had been employed at the Birds Eye Plant in Mt. Morris. While in college, Mike was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy, a disease he battled for many years. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop #83 in Canisteo where he earned his Eagle Scout Award.
He was predeceased by his father; Roy Herbert.
He is survived by his mother; Nance Herbert of Canisteo, three aunts; Charlotte Russell of Nunda, Arlene Meek of Vestal and Lyda Metcalf of Arkport, several cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held as soon as Mike's Mother is released from Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA, where she is recovering from injuries sustained in the same auto accident.
