Melodi Jane Mead

Melodi Jane Mead, 62, of Terry Street in Hornell passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 26, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Corning NY, December 2, 1961 to Gerald and Gail Dickerson. Melodi was a 1980 graduate from Hornell High School where she earned certifications in Machinery and Heavy Equipment. Melodi worked on various road crews as an equipment operator until giving birth to her first son. Melodi soon moved on to work in the Hospitality and Food Service Industry for the remainder of her working years.
Melodi was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Kevin Mead, as well as her sister, Gwendolyn Marcinkus, and her granddaughter Sahara Barker.
Surviving are her parents, Gerald Dickerson of Coopers Plains, her mother Gail Clancy (Patrick Clancy) of Hornell, two sons Steven Barker (Juliette) of Cheraw South Carolina and Jason Barker of Elmira, three daughters Emily Mead (Paul Olds) of Hornell, Rosalee Mead of Hornell, and Brenda Buchanan of Honesdale Pennsylvania. Melodi has 2 surviving siblings which include Lynette (Dan) Turner of Tyrone and Kristina Drake of Hornell, eight surviving grandchildren Allison (Davey), Daniel, Hailey, Ashton, Mariah, Jasmin and JadaLeah, as well as one great-grandchild Cordell.


There will be no calling hours. All friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at the Arkport American Legion Post on Saturday August 31st 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

As a true testimony to Mels love and passion for baking and cooking, all baked goods will be prepared by her eldest daughter Emily using Mels favorite recipes.

Please come as you are, and join the family in sharing memories, stories and most of all love during this difficult time.
