Mary C. Stiles Cone
Hornell
Mary C. Cone, 86, of 71 Church Street Court went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 13, 2011, at the Hornell Gardens Nursing Home.
She was born in Hornellsville on December 12, 1924 during a raging snow storm. Dr. Brasted waded in hip boots to deliver the raven haired baby girl at home. Her parents were Edwin and Alice (Dyke) Stiles. She was the second oldest of their eleven living children and soon became " Little Mommy" to her younger brothers and sisters. Mary was born again and then baptized at the Southside Baptist Church on Easter Sunday morning in 1941 with her sisters Dorothy and Betty.
She married Delbert Cone on August 3, 1947 and together raised eight children. Her unconditional love, not only for her family but also for others was a strong testimony of the love of Christ within her. She passed on just as she lived; quietly and submissively, trusting and smiling radiantly as she went to be with her Lord. She will be deeply missed but we will anticipate the joyous reunion we will one day receive in heaven.
She was predeceased by her husband, Delbert Cone in 1994, special step-son, Harold Cone, her grand daughter, Gabrielle Cone, sisters, Dorothy Payne, Betty Evans, Alice Flint, Esther Flint, and infant sister, Virginia Stiles, her brothers, Edwin Stiles Jr., Leonard Stiles and David Stiles.
She is survived by 3 daughters, Marie (Joe) Paduano of North Hornell, Nancy (Dennis) Gardiner of Harpursville, and Rebecca (Byron) Muse of Olean, 4 sons, Stanley (Joanne) Cone of Hornell, Michael (Debbie) Cone of Hornell, Rodney (Gloria) Cone of Hornell, and Timothy (Kim) Cone of Elmira, two step children, James (Colleen ) Cone of Dansville and Mary (Rodney) Booth of Wayland, one sister, Lois (Jim) Brizzee of Wellsville, and 2 brothers, Paul (Donna ) Stiles of Hornell and Ira (Pat) Stiles of Painted Post, 17 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
