Mary Schreiber

Mary Dale Schreiber, 70, a resident of Chapel Street in Almond, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday (Nov. 20, 2025) at her home.

Born in Rochester, November 16,1955, she was the daughter of John and Estelle Barker Prewitt. Following her graduation from high school, Mary attended Alfred State College where she earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing. She had been employed for several years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath, first as a nurse and later in clerical work.

Mary married the love of her life, Tim, on August 14, 1976 after meeting him when she came to Alfred for school. Mary's greatest joy in life was her family. She poured her heart into raising her two children with Tim, guiding them with steady love, patience, and a quiet strength that anchored them through every season of life. When she became a grandmother, her world grew even brighter. Her three grandchildren were her pride and delight, and she cherished every moment spent cheering them on, spoiling them gently, and surrounding them with the same unwavering love that defined her life. For Mary, family wasn't just important-it was everything. Her devotion, kindness, and warmth will continue to live on in the people she loved most.

Mary was predeceased by her parents and her husband Timothy Schreiber in 2008.

Surviving are her daughter, Leigh Emerson (Erich Dobson) of Arkport, her son, Justin Schreiber of Almond, her sister, Elizabeth Prewitt of Rochester, and her brother, Jack Prewitt of Rochester, her grandchildren, Owen Emerson, Noelle Emerson, and Rose Schreiber.

There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11 AM.
