Mary L. LaBarron, 74, of

17 Williams Street,died at home on Friday (May 18, 2007) surrounded by her family. Her life was richly blessed by a lovingfamily and community, and she will be remembered for her gentle and generous spirit.



Mary was born in Hornell on August 3, 1932, the only child of Frend and DorothyYoung. Mary was a devoted wife andmother and life- long resident of Hornell; she loved to read, swim at the YMCA, worship with her church family at the United Presbyterian Church, and playbridge with her husband of 56 years, Earl Raymond LaBarron,who survives. Following their marriagein 1950, Mary and Ray spent four years with the Air Force, traveling and livingthroughout the United States . Upon returning to Hornell in the mid fifties,Mary embraced the joys and challenges of raising five children. She was a Sunday School Teacher, Camp FireGirl's Leader, and devoted stay-at-home mom, always eager to support andencourage her children's interests. Intheir retirement years, Mary and Ray LaBarron spent agreat deal of time at Keuka Lakeand in Florida.



Mary leaves behind many dear friends in addition to herfamily. Her children are all currentlylocal area residents; Linda (Jim) Varner, Jeanne (Paul) McAnany,Robert LaBarron, Christine (Paul) Congdon,and Kathy ( Gary)LaBarron-Roberts.She was the proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Laura and JeffreyBarnard, Patrick , Steven and Maureen McAnany, Bryanand Mary Ann LaBarron, Sean , Paul and Elizabeth Congdon; Eliot and Samuel Roberts.



The family would like to thank the staff of the Home & Health Care Agency in Hornell fortheir skillful and compassionate nursing care which made it possible for Maryto live with grace and dignity at home during the course of her illness.
