Mary Alice Koehler, 93, of 60 John Street, passed away Saturday (March 20, 2010) at her home.
Born in Homer, December 4, 1916, the daughter of Arthur and Fannie Abbott Bush, she had graduated from McGraw High School, and later graduated from Syracuse University. On August 3, 1940 she married Edward McKendrick , and moved to the Airport Rd in Hornell to raise her family. Later, she had resided in Wellsville for many years, moving to Hornell several years ago. Mary Alice was a member of the Wellsville and Hornell Assembly of God Churches, and had volunteered for the Wellsville Ambulance. Alice worked for Metropolitan Insurance Company early in her career, and retired from Alfred State College and the Wellsville Campus as a receptionist.
She was predeceased by her husband Edward McKendrick in 1973, her son Peter McKendrick in 2009, her granddaughters Stephanie Gallmann, Kelly McKendrick, grandsons Jason Snowden, Richard Atwood, and her sister Charlotte Abbott.
She is survived by 4 daughters Priscilla "Peggy" (David) Atwood of TX, Mary Alice Porcaro, Theresa (Jim) Gallmann of Angelica, and Susan (Mike) Snowden of Hornell, a son Thomas McKendrick of AZ, 26 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-8PM Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral/Memorial services will be held at 8:00 PM, Rev. Fred Francisco officiating.
