Mary "Doris" Hamilton, 89, formerly of Wellsville, passed away Tuesday (December 28, 2010) at the Hornell Gardens.



Born in Painted Post, August 28, 1921, the daughter of Harry and Leila Merrick, she had resided in Wellsville for many years prior to moving to Hornell in the early 1980's. Doris was employed as a bartender for many years in Wellsville. She enjoyed fishing, flea markets, music, gardening, crafts, and her doll collection. She was always ready to help any one in need and will be remembered most for her love of her children and grandchildren.



She was predeceased by her husband Russell Hamilton, her son Timothy, her daughter Ezora Harper as well as 3 sisters and one brother.



She is survived by 3 daughters, Debra (Gerald) Olin of Hornell, Tara Hamilton of Watkins Glen and Rebecca Hamilton of Tenn., one son, Russell Hamilton of Stannards, 2 sisters, Elaine (Anthony) Bello of Olean and Marion (Arthur) Yehl of Allegany, 17 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell on Sunday from 1 PM until 3 PM where Funeral services will follow calling hours at 3 PM. Deacon Robert McCormick will officiate. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
