Mary M. Cheresnowsky, 43, of
1199 Haskell Road, passed away Saturday evening (July 28, 2007) at her home following a courageous fight with brain tumor.
A lifelong resident of Hornell, Mary was born April 23, 1964, the daughter of Arthur and Pamela Dickinson Pelkey. Mary was a graduate of Hornell High School, Class of 1982, as well as the St. James School of Radiology. On August 8, 1987, she married Timothy Cheresnowsky who survives.
Mary had been employed as an X-Ray Technician at Corning Hospital, Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, and continued her career at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath. Mary was a member of Our Lady Of The Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Hornell. Mary also enjoyed spending time outdoors, four wheeling, fast cars, dogs and lounging in her pool on a bright sunny summer day.
Mary was predeceased by her mother Pamela Pelkey in 2000, as well as her mother in law Bonnie Cheresnowsky in 2007.
In addition to her husband, Tim, surviving are her father, Arthur Pelkey of Hornell, 2 sisters, Charlene (Joe) O'Connor and their sons; Sean and Kyle, and Sherry Pelkey all of Hornell, one brother, Larry Pelkey of Hornell, her father-in-law, George Cheresnowsky of Hornell, four sisters-in-law, Mary Ann (Bill) Burger of Livonia, Kate (Roger) Gray of Caledonia, Susan (Monte) Hurd of Livonia and Monica Cheresnowsky of Hornell, two brothers-in-law, John (Debbie) Cheresnowsky of Columbia, MD, and Thomas (Fran) Cheresnowsky of Hornell. Mary is also survived by her nieces and nephews: George, Marla, Erin, April, Travis, Mark, Kyle, Sarah, Megan, and Joseph. She will be especially missed by her godson, Joshua Hurd of Livonia; niece, Jill (Charles) Montanye of Canajoharie her great nephew, Jack Montanye also of Canajoharie, and her favorite dog, Kid.

The family of Mary Cheresnowsky will receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street, Hornell. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church on Friday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Town of Fremont.
