Mary Dee Barnes,68, of
63 South Elm St.,passed away peacefully Monday (October2, 2006) at home.
Born in Canisteo, May 27, 1938, a daughter of Earland Mary VanFleet York, shemoved back to Canisteo in 1976.
She was a graduate ofthe Canisteo Central School class of 1957
Mary Dee had been employed as a waitress for Harvy's andBrothers four restaurant in Almond and payroll clerk at the Hornell GardensNursing Home, retiring in 2000.
She was a member of the Canisteo United Methodist Church , where she was in the Choir and Bell Choir, Stephens Grey Class, Stitchery Club andAlter Guild. She also helped withCanisteo Rotary Club lunches . Mary Deewill be rememberd for her love of working in her flower gardens
She was predeceased byher parents, one sister: Bertha Smith in1998, a brother: Van York in 2000.
She is survived by three sons:, James ( Iris) Barnes of Colorado, Sterling (Rachael) Barnesof Dansville., Raymond ( Nanci) Barnes of Geneseo, one sister: Anita ( Robert )Gams of Canisteo, and one brother: Duane ( Lois) York of Canisteo.
10 Grandchildren, 2 GreatGrandchildren neices and nephews and cousins
The family will be present to receivefriends 2-4 & 7-9 PM Thursday, (October5, 2006), at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home,6 Spruce St., Canisteo, where Funeralservices will be held on Friday,( October 6, 2006 ) at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Raymond Shawofficiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery,Canisteo.
