Martin A. Sheroshick Jr. 98, of West Main Street, passed away Sunday (January 21, 2018) at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bath where he had resided for nearly four years.
Born in Susquehanna, PA, October 2, 1919, the son of Martin A. and Ruth Skinner Sheroshick, he had resided in Canisteo for several years. He had been employed as an engineer for the former Erie and Erie Lackawanna Railroad. He had served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War 2, and was a prisoner of war for 18 months. While in the army, he was a Golden Gloves Champion boxer.
Martin was a member of the Canisteo American Legion, a member of Our Lady of The Valley Parish, and a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Hornell.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Veronica Paukstis Sheroshick in 2002, his sisters; Barbara Husted and Geraldine Smith, and his brothers; Louis, Joseph and Edmond Sheroshick.
He is survived by three daughters; Carolyn Cone. Janis Speed and Brenda Fortuna all of Canisteo, three grandchildren; Michele (Mark Flint) Stewart, Vicki (Jamie)Flaitz and Bradley (Bobbi) Speed, five great grandchildren; Nicholas Day, Dylan Day, Quillan Speed, Taylor Speed and Ethan Speed.

There will be no calling hours. The family will observe a private graveside service with military honors at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Fremont at their convenience.
