Marion G. Nye, 88, of
3869 State Route 248, passed away Friday (April 16, 2004) at her home.
Born in Pompey, NY, November 12, 1915, the daughter of Michaeland Theresa O'Brien Tighe, she had resided most of her life in Cazanovia, NY,moving to Canisteo in 1996. She was acommunicant of St. Mary's Church in Rexville, a 50 + year member of of the Grange holding membership in theOwegena Grange of Cazanovia, both National and State Grange as well as theCanisteo Grange #460. She had raised 3foster children and had cared for several infants who were awaiting adoption inthe early 1940's and 1950's. She hadbeen employed as a housekeeper for the R. James Hubbard family in Cazenovia for 47 years.
On March 27, 1938, she married Kenneth R.Nye who predeceased her on March 10. 1996.She was also predeceased by her 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
She is survivedby her daughter, Karen (James) Vanskiver of Canisteo
2 grand daughters, Marylu andLaurie Vanskiver both of West Palm Beach, Florida
Nieces & Nephews
The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4 & 7-9PM Monday, at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebratedat St.Mary?s Church in Rexville on Tuesday at 11:00 AM. Committal services and burial will be in St Patricks Cemetery, Truxton,NY on Wednesday at 1:00 PM.
