Marilyn L "Myrt" Stuart, 78, of 972 Almond Road, passed away Sunday (November 14, 2010) at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Hornell, March 21, 1932, the daughter of Joseph and Genevive Hallett Recktenwald, she was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Hornell High School. On May 29, 1954 she married Wayne F Stuart who predeceased her on March 3, 2010. Marilyn had worked for Steuben Trust Company in Arkport, and later for FAD Motors in Hornell. She was member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St Ann's Church of Hornell. Marilyn enjoyed her coffee club at JC's cafe´, but most of all enjoyed her family.
She was predeceased by her husband and 3 sisters Laura Spooner, Ann Bullock, and Geraldine Dempsy.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy (Clair) Mallory of Almond, 3 sons Richard (Pamela) Stuart of Almond, Robert Stuart of Almond, and Thomas Stuart of Almond, 3 sisters Arlene Clark of Hornell, Mary Muhleisen of Hornell, Bonnie (James) Brunswick of Cohocton, 5 brothers Joseph Recktenwald of Colorado, Alan Recktenwald of Oregon, Robert (Linda) Recktenwald of Almond, Gerald (Sonia) Recktenwald of Hornell, Jack (Bonnie) Recktenwald of Montana, 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 4-7pm Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM, with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery, Fremont.
