Marilee K. "Sue" Geibel, 70, of Owego, NY passed away Thursday (February 15, 2018) after a long illness. Born Nov 21, 1947, in Butler, PA she was a daughter of the late Jerome and Eleanor Graham Michel. She is survived by her son, Brent M. Geibel and his wife Kandi of Hornell; two grandaughters, Brooke and Erin Geibel; her sister Eileen (Paul) Slomer of Renfrew, PA; her two sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Michel of Renfrew, PA, Rose Stepula of (Seminole, PA);as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Dick Butler; brothers Ronald Michel and Gary Michel; ex-husband and friend David Geibel. Marilee grew up in East Butler, PA and was a graduate of Butler High School, Class of 1965 before moving to Owego, NY, where she resided most of her life. She was employed by Leslie Anne Kings Tax Accounting and later Johnson's Pools & Spa. Marilee touched several lives throughout the years and had many good friends. She volunteered for Hospice for seven years, was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Owego, lifetime member of the Owego Women of the Moose and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and made the best orange floats! In the summer months she could be found camping at Pine Cradle Campgrounds in Rome, PA with her "camping family" who she loved dearly. To send a remembrance to the family, please visit

Calling hours are 4-7 p.m. Monday (February, 19, 2018) at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St. in Hornell. Relatives and friends are invited to meet her family at St. Ann's Church in Hornell where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday (February 20, 2018). Committal prayers and interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Fremont. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to either Care First Hospice, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, N.Y. 14870; or to the Alfred State College Hope for Health Fund, Alfred State College, Development Fund, 10 Upper College Drive, Alfred, N.Y., 14802. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the funeral home.
