Marianna V. Burdett Matlega, 85, passed away Wednesday (May 5, 2010) at the Hornell Gardens.
Born in Fremont, January 29, 1925, the daughter of Joel and Polly T Allen Burdett Sr, she was a lifelong area resident. She had worked for the former Huguets Silk Mill in Hornell and Canisteo. Marianna belonged to the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed animals, and artwork especially known for her pencil drawings.
She was predeceased by her parents, her 2 brothers Douglas and Hobart Burdett.
She is survived by a sister Margaret Drake of Hornell, 4 brothers Paul (Betty) Burdett of Hornell, Joel D Burdett Jr of Hornell, Donald Burdett of Hornell and James (Anna) Burdett of Geneseo, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will be present 4-5pm Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the Robertson Funeral Home (at Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 5:00 PM, with the Rev. Michael Childs officiating. Burial will be in Hornell Rural Cemetery
