Marian B. Caple Miles, 79, a longtime Hartsville resident went to be with the Lord on Monday (July 20, 2009) at the Elcor Nursing Home in Horseheads following a long illness.
Born in Hornell, January 30, 1930, she was the youngest daughter of Floyd and Lola (Cross) Caple. Marian was employed at Sears and Roebuck in Hornell as a paint and hardware salesperson as well as a maintenance agreement salesperson. She retired in 1993. She was a member of the Hartsville Center Cemetery Association, the Hartsville Community Baptist Church, the Hornellsville Grange, the Hartsville Historical Society, and had been a girl scout leader.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Miles in 1974, 3 brothers, Samuel, Fred and Russell Caple, and 2 sisters, Eloise (Ira) Davis, and Frances (Russell) Stiles.
She is survived by 3 sons, Darwin (Kay) Miles and Larry(Maria) Miles of Hornell, Darrell Miles of Canisteo, 5 daughters, Pat (Terry) Mann of Hornell, Linda (Jonathan) Ballard of Grand Gorge, Lois (Max) Aguilar , Laura (Terry) Kannett both of Maryland, and Marlene Andes of Elmira, 24 Grandchildren, 39 Greatgrandchildren, one great great grandson, as well as several nieces & nephews.
The family will be present to receive friends from 2PM-4PM and 6:30PM-8:30PM on Thursday at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 6 Spruce St., Canisteo where funeral services will follow calling hours at 8:30 PM with Charles Williams officiating. Burial will be in Hartsville Center Cemetery. The family is being assisted by Gerald R. Brown, Director.
