Margie M. Hartman, 79, formerly of Canisteo, passed away Friday (May 30, 2008) unexpectedly at her home in New Port Richey, Florida.
Born in Canaseraga, January 18, 1929, the daughter of Earl and Myrtle (Goodmote) Cone, shehad been a resident of Canisteo and the surrounding areas all her life prior tomoving to Floridaabout 1999. Margie had been employed at the former Richardson's Furniture Store in Canisteo, theAlmond Upholstery, Scott's Dairy Bar, and as a clerk at the Canisteo PostOffice. She was a member and Past Matronof the former Canisteo Chapter #210, Order of Eastern Star. Margie enjoyedcrafts, sewing, needlepoint, knitting, especially loved her animals and enjoyed traveling. She will be most remembered as a kind andcompassionate person, who cared deeply for her family and anyone in need.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, ClarenceHartman in 2004 following 57 years of marriage, her brothers, Clifford E. Cone,Harold R. Cone, Howard F. Cone and her sisters, Thelma Cone Raub,Frances Cone O'dell, and Jeanette Cone.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Nancy) Hartman ofCanisteo, her brother, Richard Cone of Hornell, her sisters, Lucy Cone Cline ofSilver Springs, and Lois Cone Stage of Canisteo, her grandchildren, Chad(Isabel) Hartman of Virginia, and Marcy (Adrian) Morlingof Canisteo, her brothers-in-law, Jim (Louise) Hartman and Waldo Hale both of Canisteo, Sisters-in-law, Doris (Jerry) VanFleet of Canisteo, Patricia Hartman of Canisteo, JuliaHartman of Washington State, Louise Brown of Cohocton, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces ,nephews, including Arnie Sherman and his daughters,Darlene, Lisa, Cindy and Joy, cousins,and many special friends including Mike & Melissa McKee of Hornell and manyfriends and neighbors in Florida.
The family will be presentto receive friends on Saturday (June 14, 2008) from 1PM until 2 PMat the Brown & Powers Funeral Home,
6 Spruce St., Canisteowhere a memorial services will followcalling hours at 2 PM. Rev. Daniel Pickering will officiate. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery.
