Margaret J. Matacale, 88, formerly of William Street in Hornell, passed away peacefully on Sunday (June 24, 2018) at the Seager-Bates Home on East Elm Street, with her family by her side.
She was born December 13, 1929, the daughter of Harold and Beatrice (Page) Reynolds, graduating from Wayland Central School "Class of 1948". She was married November 6, 1954 in Hornell to Francis R. Matacale whom predeceased her in July of 1998. Margaret had worked for the former Loblaws in Hornell, and Merrill Hosiery, until becoming a full-time homemaker, or as she would have put it "Domesticated Engineer". She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Hornell, and a former member and weight recorder of TOPS in Arkport. She enjoyed playing Pinochle once a month with a special group of ladies. Margaret was also an avid BINGO player, and enjoyed shopping from dawn to dusk, with her sisters- in-law and nieces, and later loved to shop on QVC.
In addition to her husband Francis, she was also predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers Ken and Donald Reynolds, along with several sisters and brothers- in-law.
Margaret is survived by 3 sons Thomas (Kelly) Matacale of Hornell, Michael (Monica) Matacale of Orlando, FL, Daniel (Kathy) Matacale of Wellsville, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sister- in-law Florence Rice of Miami, FL, and brother- in-law Gene (Bonnie) Matacale of Hornell.
The family will be present 4-7pm Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Bruce Incze officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery in Hornell.
