Margaret “Peggy” Wilson Powell

Margaret “Peggy” Wilson Powell passed away peacefully at Updyke’s Willow Ridge on Thursday (June 13, 2024) at the young age 102. She was born in Clarksburg West Virginia, the daughter of Mark and Hazel Acheson Wilson. She married Jules Vincent Powell in 1949 and together they raised 3 children, Jules Powell Jr. (deceased), Margaret Powell Blair, and Amy Rummel. In addition to her 2 daughters, Peggy is survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Peggy will be remembered for her dedication to the raising and advocacy of her son Jules Jr. who was developmentally disabled. She took great pride in her family’s Scottish heritage and was a voracious reader of Robert Burns, Robert Louis Stevenson and almost any mystery written. A staunch republican, she eventually came to terms with FDR in her later years! And still she remembered the first electrical poles being erected in her hometown, she never quite understood the internet.
At Peggy’s request, there will be no public calling hours or service. A private family service will be held later this summer.
