Wilder, 99 formerly of Cook Street, passed away Friday (Aug. 25, 2023) at the Maple City Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.Born in LaFerte Bernard, France, October 17, 2023, she was the daughter of Ernest and Camille Journee Collin. Madeleine came to the United States with her 4 month old daughter Kety in 1946.Madeleine was employed as a manager at the Former Hickey Freeman plant in Hornell. She was then employed for 10 years at the Library and Media Center at the former Bryant School and later as a secretary at the former Irving School in Hornell prior to her retirement in 1983. She was a member of the former St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Hornell as well as the Woman’s Guild of the Church, the Fortnightly Book Club, and was a volunteer for the Hornell Chapter of the American Red Cross and the Hornell Senior Center.Madeleine was predeceased by her parents, her daughter Kety Wilder in 1967, and her husband Donald Wilder in 1993. She was also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Raymond , Odette, Yvette, Ginette, Andre, and Maurice.Surviving are her son, John (Audrey) Wilder of Liverpool, two grandchildren, Brittany Wilder (Hillar Schwertner) of Mass., and Joshua Wilder of Mass., one great granddaughter, Madeleine Schwertner.The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday (Aug. 27, 2023) from 2 until 4 PM at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell where a funeral service will follow at 4 PM.
