Luella M. Bender,88, formerly of
Canisteo Streetpassed away Saturday (August 20, 2005) at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Center, in Bath.
Born in Harrison Valley, PA, September 15, 1916, the daughter of Lesterand Theresa Warriner Rice,she was a graduate of Hornell High School. In 1949 , she and her husband, LaVerne Bender, established the Bender Funeral Home in Hornell, which they operated until their retirement in1981. She had resided in Carlisle, PAfor several years, returning to Hammondsport in October 2004, to reside with her daughter and son "in-law. Shewas a longtime member of the Christian& Missionary Alliance Church of Hornell, where she was a Sunday School Teacher,and organist for many years.
She was predeceased byher husband LaVerne Bender in 1992 and 1 brother Truman Rice in 2001.
She is survived by herdaughters ; Barbara Brooks of Kissimmee Florida and Ruth (Duane) Creeley of Hammondsport , 1 sister LeetaSimmons of Matthews MO, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 greatgreat grandchildren .
