Lucille A. Crane, 88, of 329 Seneca Road, passed away Friday (February 26, 2010) at the Hornell Gardens with her long time care giver and nephew, Gary VanAllen by her side.
Born October 11, 1921, in North Hornell, the daughter of John and Lellie Alvord Crane, she had resided in Hornell all her life. She was a graduate of Hornell High School and was employed at the former Peck Motor Sales, The Evening Tribune, and retired from the former Franklin Furniture Company after 39 years of service.
Lucy was a member of the former Spencer United Methodist Church , the Hornell Chamber of Commerce and the Hornell High School Alumni Association. She especially enjoyed family and friends, and helped raise her nephew, Gary, until he was 16 years of age. She was an avid baseball fan, especially for the Atlanta Braves, and an avid Buffalo Bills fan.
She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Walter H. Crane in 1973 and her sister, Theo M. Jones in 1994.
She is survived by 2 nephews, Gary (Chari) VanAllen of Hornell and John (Janice) Crane of Phoenix, special sister-in-law, Margaret Crane of Geneva, dearest cousin, Virginia Crane of Bath, one great nephew, Kevin (Kara) VanAllen of West Henrietta, 2 great nieces, Elizabeth (John) Hansen of Phoenix, Jessica Crane and fiance´ Mike Beach of Phoenix, one great great niece, Tessa Rose VanAllen of West Henrietta, 2 great great nephews, Evan John Hansen and Conner James Hansen , both of Phoenix.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell on Tuesday from 1 PM until 3 PM where funeral services will be held following calling hours at 3 PM.
