Louise J Spicer, 75, of 6357 County Route 68, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on Friday (June 17, 2011) at home.



Born in Jasper, April 11, 1936, the daughter of Harold and Olive (Wood) Strait, she was a lifelong area resident, graduating from Jasper Central School. On July 18, 1959 she married William V. Spicer of Hornell, who survives. Louise retired from Raymond Callahan Insurance in Hornell. For many years Louise did Upholstery work from her home. She was a member of the Women of the Moose #620 in Hornell, receiving the Star Recorder award the highest award given in the organization. Louise was very talented in crafts, quilting and painting, and was an excellent cook and baker, but most of all a loving and caring wife and mother.



She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years Bill, her daughter Cindy (Eddie) Polanowski of Angelica, 2 sons Bradley (Patti) Spicer of Hornell, Steven (Victoria) Spicer of Breese, IL, 4 sisters Peggy (Jim) Rice of Hornell, Betty Jo (Robert) Stanford of Canisteo, Sonjia Bennett of Hornell, Bonnie Maurizio of PA, 10 grandchildren Megan, Brenna, and Nikki Polanowski, Erin, Chad, Kali, Alexander, Azzanna, Abraham, and Patrick Spicer, several nieces, and nephews.



The family will be present 2-4pm & 7-9PM with a Women of the Moose service at 8:00pm Monday, June 20, 2011, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Donald Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Fremont Cemetery.
