Lois B. York
Canisteo
Lois B. York, 93 of South Elm Street, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday (June 4, 2025) at St. James Hospital in Hornell.
Born in Hornell, September 27, 1931, she was the daughter of Robert and Mary Frances VanKeuren Prior.
Lois was a graduate of Hornell High School, and had resided her entire life in the Hornell – Canisteo area. She had been employed as a bookkeeper for several Towns and Villages in Steuben County as well as for several area Judges
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Canisteo where she was a member of the Stephens Grey Class and the Alter Guild. She was also a member of the Hornell Lions Club.
Lois especially enjoyed spending summers at Keuka Lake, as well as making quilts, knitting, doing puzzles, and playing Monday night Euchre games at the Canisteo American Legion.
She was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Earl Van York, her second husband, Robert Miller, her brother, George Prior, her sisters, Alice Spitulnik, Helen Turner, Ruth Dinkins, Dorothy Hartwell, and Betty Westfall, and her grandson, William Rhude.
Surviving are her daughters, LoAnne (Gregory) Bogoshian of Rochester, and Bridget (Harry) McInroy of Florida, her son, Darrell (JoEllen) York of Canisteo, grandchildren, Michael Crego, Janice York, Jennifer McInroy, Ryan (Jennifer) York and Meagan York, Sandy (Benjamin) Burdick, Aubri York and 12 extended and great grandchildren,
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration Of Life will be announced at a later date.
