Lois Marie (Bacon) Kame, 83, of Maple Court Homes, passed away Saturday (November 2, 2013) at St James Mercy Hospital.



Born in Erie, PA., January 11, 1930, the daughter of Jay M. and Alice Newman Bacon, she had resided in Hornell since 1945. She had owned and operated a beauty shop on Davenport Street and later worked as a waitress at the former Blue Angel Restaurant in Hornell, and retired from the former Morrison Knudsen also of Hornell. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Hornell VFW, a member of the Hornell Association, the Hornell Moose Club and the Arkport American Legion Post.



Lois had a vivacious personality and unique sense of humor that brought many people to love her. She was a remarkable lady who was truly one of a kind. Family and friends were Lois's love and joy. She adored spending time with her best friends, Beryl Johnson and Tim Butler. One of her favorite times of the year was Christmas Eve, when her entire family gathered together to celebrate.



She was predeceased by her parents, her infant daughter, Nina Marie Byron, her brothers, Frederick (Jean) , Ted (Doris), Chuck (Viola) Willis (Gladys) Donald, Clark and Robert Bacon, her sisters, Betty (Bill) King, Dorothy Violet (Raymond) Vosburg, Bonnie (David) Miller, Velma (Gusty) Gariepy, Lillian (Harold) Nichols, her sister-in-law, Barbara Bacon, and long time partner, Dean Lafferty.



She is survived by her four children, Ronald (Sue) Byron of Bath, Mike (Christine) Byron of Arkport, Diana (Mark) Phillipson of Bath, and Bonita (Brent) Reynolds of Alfred Station, also her brother Ray Bacon of Florida, and her close sister-in-law, Margie Bacon and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 AM. Her sister-in-law, Margie Bacon will officiate. Burial will be in Arkport Cemetery on Saturday (Nov. 9, 2013) at 10 AM.
