Linda M. Henshaw, 53, of "The Oaks" passed away Friday (September 24, 2010) at her home following a long courageous battle with cancer.



Born in Hornell, October 12, 1956, the daughter of Robert and Gladys Gordon Prouty, she had resided in this area all her life. She was a 1974 graduate of Canisteo Central School, and received her RN degree from the St. James Hospital School of Nursing in 1985. She had been employed as an RN in the Intensive Care Unit at St. James for 20 years, then as an Infection Control Nurse and head of Quality & Risk Management at St. James for 5 years. Linda will be remembered for her love of her work and her family, especially her grandchildren, as well as golf, the casinos and reading.



She was predeceased by her father, Robert Prouty, her brothers-in-law, Randy Plank, David Fowler Sr. and Alan Wilder, sister-in-law, Marilynn Applebee, father and mother-in-law, James Henshaw Sr., and Jean Henshaw, and her nephew, Tim Czimback.



She is survived by husband of 36 years, Stephen Henshaw of Arkport, her mother, Gladys Prouty of Hornell, her children, Angela Weber of Hornell, Robert (Crystal) Henshaw of Hornell, Christopher (Emily) Henshaw of Hornell, and Danielle Henshaw of Dansville, her grandchildren, Tyler Stephen Henshaw, Breauna Marie Weber, Haylie Marie Henshaw, Jacob Robert Henshaw, Chloee Mae Henshaw and a grandchild due in February 2011, her sisters, Judy Plank of bath, Mary Prouty of Canisteo and Pamela Prouty of Bergen, her brothers, Robert Prouty of Rome and David Prouty of Florida, her half sisters, Gloria Wheatcraft and Deb. Winters, her half brothers, Donald and Tim Winters, her in-laws including her mother-in-law, Joanne Henshaw, Marsha Hmiel of CA., Janice Czimback of Bath, Bill (Cathy) Henshaw of Syracuse, James (Bonnie) Henshaw of Hornell, Louie (Mary) Henshaw of Elmira, Lynn (Jamie) Lantz of Arkport, special friends and co- workers as well as aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.

The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday from 11 AM until 1PM. and 3 PM until 5 PM at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell where a Memorial Service will follow calling hours at 5 PM. Chaplain Astuti Bijlefeld will officiate.
