Linda Stever Griffin age 74 of Bailey Hill Road, passed away peacefully on Friday (August 29, 2025) at her home.
She was born in North Hornell, New York on November 27, 1950 the daughter of George and Georgianna Kent Stever, and was a graduate of Arkport Central School “Class of 1968”. She married Thomas Griffin on April 16, 1983 and was predeceased by him on August 19, 2014. Linda had worked for Elmhurst and part-time for Wal-Mart, and retired from Steuben County with 31 years of service in the Department of Special Children’s Services,
She had a love of animals, especially her black cats and black dogs. Linda loved watching Buffalo Bills Football, and Syracuse Basketball.
Linda loved spending time with her family and friends, especially after retirement, she enjoyed getting together with her friends for lunch.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Tom, her mother in law Joyce Griffin, brothers in law Glen Lander, and David Griffin.
She is survived by her 3 daughters Hilary (Mark) Doulos of WA, Carly (Dustin) Counsil of PA, Ashley (Andrew Putman) Griffin of Arkport, 2 grandsons Gus Doulos, and Easton Counsil, her brother Al (Jean) Stever of Arkport, her sister Irene Lander of Hornell, her father in law Frank Griffin of Fremont, sister in law Audrey (John) Wilder of Liverpool, brother in law Robert (Kelly) Griffin of Hornell, her dog Keeta (who never left her side until the end), many nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.
The family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday (September 3, 2025) from 11am-1pm at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home 354 Canisteo Street in Hornell, where a Funeral Service will take place at 1:00pm with Paul Mess officiating. Burial will be at Heritage Hills Cemetery in Arkport.
The family would also like to send a huge heartfelt thank you to the nurses that came in to her home over the last two months. We can’t thank you enough and to us you are family.
