Leon C. Wolfanger, 83, formerly of Madison Avenue, went to be with the Lord on Thursday (May 27, 2010) at the Hornell Gardens.
Born in Middlesex, April 6, 1927, the son of Carl and Genevieve Rowley Wolfanger, he had resided in Swain prior to moving to Hornell in 1976.Leon served his country as a member of the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a long time member of the Hornell Corp of the Salvation Army, and had been employed for many years at the former Foster Wheeler in Dansville.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sons, John and Lee Wolfanger, and his wife, Bessie Stephens Wolfanger on April 26, 2010.
He is survived by 3 daughters, Sarah (Randy) Spencer of Dalton, Ada (Allen) Donahue of Caledonia, and Florence Ellis of Hornell, 2 Sons, Leon (Sharon) Wolfanger of Red Creek and Earl ( Lynn Stoddard) Wolfanger of Almond, his sister, Harriet Zbock of Sinclairville, several grand and great grandchildren.

The family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Tuesday at the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell where funeral services will follow calling hours at 1:00 PM. Rev. Ronald Young Sr. will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Canaseraga Cemetery.
