Born June25, 1914 in Gloversville,NY the eldest of eleven childrenborn to Clarence Leslie Collins and Carolyn Roosevelt Collins. He was marriedfor forty nine years to Emma Stahl Collins who along with his granddaughterBridget Collins preceded him in death. He later married Susan HerrNeckar Collins and moved to Belmont, they were married for 17 years. Heis survived by his wife Susan HerrNeckar Collins ofCanisteo, four children and four step children, Jean Collins Gotts of Clayton, GA, Linda Collins Farrell of Tamarac, Fl, Terry Brian Collins of Edgewater, FL, MartinGeorge Collins of Milwaukee, WI, Robert Rectenwald ofLewis Run, PA, Cathy Shupp of Fremont, Karen Henry ofCanisteo, Bonnie Trevino of Hornell. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren,seven step grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He is also survived byone sister Norma Collins LaRowe of Johnstown and 1brother Theodore John Collins of Colorado. In his early childhood years, Leland wasraised by his grandparents George and Clara Cook Collins of Fishhousedue to family health issues. He attended elementary school in Fishhouse and junior high school in Broadalbin and Gloversville. He wasemployed as a machinist for General Electric in Schenectady for over 25 years untilretirement.
A Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the Robertson FuneralHome 354 Canisteo St. Hornell. Burial will be at the Rockwood Cemeteryin the spring.
