Lawrence J. Peterson, 65, of East Ave, passed away Wednesday (July 3, 2013) at his home.
Born in Hornell, May 26, 1948, the son of William C. Peterson and Ola Benedict, he had resided in Hornell most of his life. Lawrence worked for Phillips Lighting as well as Alstom. He was very active with Civil War reenactments; serving with the Union Soldiers. Lawrence was an avid outdoorsman and loved his family. Lawrence proudly served his country as a member of the United States Coast Guard for 4 years.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother; William C. Peterson and one sister; Barbara Ann Peterson.
He is survived by one son, Eian Peterson of Hornell, two daughters; Dara Green of Wilmington NC and Lynda (Michael) Feenaughty of Batavia; one sister, Cheryl Stewart of Hornell, one granddaughter, Carly Green, two nephews; Hank Stewart of Bowsman MT and Robert Stewart of Charlotte NC.

The family will be present receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday (July 8, 2013), at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell. Burial with military honors will be at Bath National Cemetery.
