Lawrence"Bus" A. Perry died Tuesday (March 25, 2008) after anextended illness.
He was born August18, 1918 in Almond, the son of Harry W and Grace Barrett Perry. On September 28, 1941 inAlmond, he married Margaret Louise Sharrett, who predeceased him in 1997. Hewas predeceased in 1998 by a sister Annabell Oakley Franklin of Colorado.
Lawrencegraduated from Almond High School, Class of1938, and went to work for Carborundum Corp. in Niagara Falls, New York,returning to the Almond area in 1943. He worked for the Charles Wightman Farmin Almond, Lewis Hooker Auto Sales in Hornell, Rogers Machine Shop in Alfredand finally Dresser-Rand in Wellsville. Retiring in 1981 he and Margaret madetheir home in Leesburg, FL for the next 18 years. Lawrence returned to Almond in 2000 and had resided at Highland Healthcare Center in Wellsvillesince 2004.
Lawrencewas involved in Almond Village politics servingon the council for many years and as mayor from 1962-66.
Lawrencewas a member of the Eustis Lodge #1578 B.P.O.E.of Eustis Florida, and had been active in the Mid-Florida Lakes boatclub, horseshoes, bowling and served a term of President of the Village Cluband Commador of the Boat Club.
Lawrence is survived by one daughter Sandra (Harold) Hackettof Almond, 2 sons Lawrence ( Elizabeth)Perry Jr of Almond and Robert (Christine) Perry of Westerville, OH, a sisterWaneta (Gene) Ormsby Allen of Almond/Lake Wales FL. He also leaves 10grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and severalnieces and nephews.
The family will be present 2-4 & 7-9 PM Saturday, and 2-4 Sunday at the Bender -Brown & Powers Funeral Home,
354Canisteo St, Hornell., where Funeral services willbe held Sunday at 4:00pm with Rev. Steve Dygert officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
