Lavonne S. Zschoche, 90, of 4560 Nine Mile Point Road, (formerly of Hornell) passed away peacefully Thursday (August 23, 2012) at Penfield Place.
Born in Hornell, September 20, 1921, the daughter of William H. and Mildred M. (Carns) Sanford, she had resided in the Fairport area for the last few years. Her early life was spent in Hornell, then moving to Virginia in 1978-2005, then moving to the Rochester area. Lavonne had worked at St. James Mercy Hospital, the Bath VAMC in Bath, New York and later for the Martinsburg VAMC in Martinsburg, West Virginia as a nursing assistant. She is a member of the Ivanhoe Chapter #160 OES, where she was past matron.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her son Paul Zschoche in 2006.
She is survived by her devoted husband of seventy years William G. Zschoche of Fairport, 3 sons William O. (Diana) Zschoche of SC, Richard (Melissa) Zschoche of Rochester, Thomas J. (Anna Mae) of NC, and Linda Zschoche of Fairport, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren, her sisters Phyllis Herold of Florida, and Darlene Aulls of Maryland, sister-in-law Caroline Dodd of Vestal, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors 2-3pm Monday, August 27, 2012, at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St, Hornell, where funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, with the Rev. Peter Dodd officiating. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery, Hornell.
The family would like to thank the staff at Strong Hospital 5th and 8th floors, and Penfield Place for their excellent care.
