Laura E. Ormsby, 82, of 1190County Rte 66, passed away Tuesday (December 16, 2008) at Jones Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hornell, August 7, 1926, the daughter of Phillip M and Ada M Woodruff Ferry, she had resided in the Almond &Alfred Station area, and the Hornellsville area since 1997. In her earlieryears she had been a stenographer form the NYS College of Ceramics, and laterprovided day care for several pre-school children in her home for many years.On December 14, 1946she married Clinton W Ormsby who survives. She was anavid reader, enjoyed camping, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her son C Phillip OrmsbySr, her sisters Charlotte Emerson, and Virginia Gilkes.
She is survived by her husband Clinton of 62 years, daughterMary Kay (Glen) Davis of Morganton, NC, daughter in law Deborah Ormsby of Lisle, NY, 4 grandchildren C Phillip (Shelley) Ormsby Jr., Michael Ormsby, KatieAnn (David) Bennett, and Nicholas Davis, 3 great grandchildren, Hunter Bennett,Nathan Ormsby, and Michael Ormsby,nieces, and nephews.
The family will be present Friday from 6-8pm and Saturday from 11am-1pm at the Robertson Funeral Home,
354 Canisteo St, Hornell,where Funeral services will be held at 1:oopm, with her Grandson C. Phillip Ormsby Jr. officiating.Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Alfred Station.
