Larry E. Hunt, 69, of
4057 Private Drive 2, passed awayunexpectedly Saturday (August 30, 2008) at St. James Hospital.
Born in Hornell, November 11, 1938, the son of Elbert and Aileen Brown Hunt,he had resided his early life in Hornell and Alfred Almond Areas. He moved to Friendship in 1974, and residedthere until moving to Silver Springs in 1985. He was a graduate of Alfred Almond Central School and Alfred University. He was employed for several years as a civil engineerat the Department of Transportation in Hornell. He later retired as SeniorState Parks Engineer in the Genesee ParkRegion. Following his retirement, he wasemployed for about 15 years for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Inrecent years he enjoyed spending summers at his home on Silver Lake, andwinters in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis VanslykePhelps Hunt whom he married Nov. 9, 1985, 3 daughters- Laurie (Jim) Buzzard ofCuba, Victoria Hunt of Arkansas, Susan (Bob) Bleek ofHume, a step-daughter, Lori Phelps of Webster, his son, Richard (Susan) Hunt ofHornell, 2 step-sons, Michael (Barbara) Phelps of Castile and Gerald Phelps of Canaseraga, his sister, Audrey (Paul) Enoof Michigan, 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
The family will be present to receive friends from 2-4 &7-9 PM Wednesday at the Bender - Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 354 CanisteoSt, Hornell where funeral services will be heldon Thursday at 11:00 AM. Burialwill be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Canisteo.
