Judy A. "Sanford" Sanford

d. March 9, 2018

• On Friday, March 9th of 2018, at age 61 Judy A. Sanford passed on peacefully after a long battle with Cancer and COPD while at Elderwood Nursing Home in North Hornell. She was born June 23, 1956 to George and Pauline (Ebner) Sanford. She was a graduate of Hornell High School class of 1974. She studied cosmetology at Hornell BOCES. In 2012, after 30+ years of service she retired from Phillips Lighting Bath NY.

Judy truly lived life on her own terms rather it be through traveling, or simply spending time with friends and family. She will be most remembered for her roll as single mom to her beloved son Bradley, their Christmas Eve gatherings, where she embraced her joy of cooking and love of gift giving. Among other things she enjoyed camping, music, antiques and scratch off tickets! Judy loved the time she spent with family including nieces and nephews to whom she will forever hold the title of "Queen", and her dear cousins and friends whom she shared many laughs and memories. In recent years of her life she enjoyed spending time spoiling her precious grandchildren; Emalee, Alyssa, Jayson, Blake, and Logan and sharing meals with visitors and her devoted caregivers.

She was preceded in death by her parents George Sanford and Pauline (Sanford) Ritenburg.

She is survived by her son, Bradley; grandchildren aforementioned. Her two sisters Georgia (Bill) Davis, Juanita Barone, and three brothers Tom Sanford, John Sanford, Troy Ritenburg, and Step Father Wayne Ritenburg. Judy's ashes will be spread in a private ceremony. Condolences may be left in Judy's online guestbook at www.brownandpowersfuneralhomes.com Because Judy was an active member of various associations including the Hornell Association, the Elks club, Moose Lodge, and both Canisteo and Hornell American Legions, in lieu of flowers donations to the Wounded Warriors project (support.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate) in Judy's name would be greatly appreciated.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home in Hornell, where the family is being assisted by director Chester A. Gosper IV.
